Hi, I have been rebuilding this motor for the past 2 months with list of items below. I had on the lake prior to rebuilding ignition, and I was only running one cylinder, but something is off with the throttle adjustment or linkage. Even after rebuilds and lube, I push the control lever forward and it just jams/doesn't move or throttle the motor. I've been trying to find some info on throttle cable/linkage adjustment but haven't found much in the BoatInfo or Clymer manual.

Also, what is the purpose of the red auxiliary lever? After starting, do I adjust this?

- Replaced lower seals
- Replaced all rubber fuel, hot water choke, pressure hoses
- Rebuilt carb
- Rebuilt fuel pump
- Rebuilt ignition with new coils, condensers, breaker points, spark cables/boots/plugs
- Cleaned and lubed up remote control and throttle cable (These move fine until I attach to the motor)

Side note: there is old yellow grease on much of the remote controls. What is this, or what is a good replacement grease for this?

Being you gave a Model # RK24, I am assuming it is an Electric Shift, with SIngle Lever control looking like this Click image for larger version Name:	control1.jpg Views:	2 Size:	14.5 KB ID:	10877654

Gear Oil must be an Electric Shift Compatible Type "C" oil, BRP sells it as Precision Blend. Other brands are out there, but some are not Compatible with the Electric Shift

Yeah, everybody screws up the throttle on the motor unless they read the book first. But that isn't the reason it won't move. Does the throttle at the motor work with the cable removed? If it does, you need to inspect the control and cable. Be aware the switch in the control costs as much as the motor is worth. So don't break it.

The red warm-up lever increases idle speed without shifting. Push it downward to cold-start the motor.

Use an anti-corrosion marine grease in place of the old white grease.

Push those ground wires back on those new coils (see the old ones). Failure to push them back will result in wearing them in two as they rub against the flywheel hub.

Thanks for the input....

Yikes, thanks F_R good to note about that switch. I've been using the OMC Triple grease on pretty much everything just because that's all I had.

jimmbo , yes that's the control I have. I DO NOT have that cable clamp, which I thought was odd as pictured in Parts Manual. I'm about to barrel test without the control cable attached. Also, I'm using OMC "Premium Blend Gear Lube". I searched OMC Precission, but wondering if you meant Premium.

When the main Throttle Lever is being used, the Wire inside the Cable Housing moves. When the Fast Idle lever is used, it is the Cable Housing that is doing the moving, which is why Improper immobilization/clamping of the cable creates problems
