Hello,
I've searched forums for the spark plug gap for this 1962 Mercury 6hp Twin and come up empty. Does anybody know correct gap for spark plug for this engine.
Thanks in advance.

Gap should be around 0.030" on that.----What is more important is an ignition test.---Will spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more.

Thank you. I don't know a lot about that test without reading how to do so. Got the motor in trade and it runs great as is. It had been sitting for years inside storage.
Changed impeller and gear oil and a couple rubber washers. Fired right up third pull. Thought it couldn't hurt to change plugs but what would you suggest? Thanks!

I have 3 of those white 6 hp motors.---Too bad they have a carbon steel driveshaft , so keep an eye on lower unit gear oil.---If spark will jump a 1/4" gap then ignition system is in good condition. Enjoy the motor.

Champions set at 0.030 should be fine. How's the wiring - any brittleness or cracks?

Champion J6J was the original plug recommendation. That supersedes to the currently available J6C.
