I was wondering if any one can tell me what wire goes to the auto choke. There is no wire cut so right now I have no clue where to supply power to it. Thanks

????? The wire coming from the choke switch connects to the choke solenoid. Pretty simple hookup.

Re: 1963 18hp auto choke wiring

Just outa curiosity, I went and had a look at the parts diagrams for '63 18hp motors, and couldn't find an auto-choke assembly/solenoid. The two I looked at were the FD-17 and the FDL-17. I even looked at the Evinrudes of the same year and power and still didn't see an auto-choke solenoid. Each only had a standard choke assembly. I have a '61 40hp with an auto-choke, but it runs on the vacuum, and I also have a '64 40hp that does have the solenoid choke assembly. Are you sure there's a solenoid that needs to be fed, cuz I didn't see one? Maybe I looked at the wrong models. Just my $.02 worth, if that.
