Hi, I have a 1963 75hp Speedifour, that with the help on here I have managed to get running and replaced the water pump. I took it out for a test on the water yesturday and though it ran it had a loss of power. Pulled it out of the water to check.
In checking the spark plug, all were very dry and one a bit heat discolored. It also took about 15minutes or so to get the motor to idle off the choke. So figuring it was not getting fuel, I cleaned the fuel pump and changed some hoses.
Next problem, now after running I have alot of white smoke, alot of fuel in the 55gallon container of water I am running it in. Spark plugs are black, wet, almost fouled.
Compression test is 75 to 80 in all cylinders wet/dry, but I am not quite sure how good my gauge is, cheapie and old. Will verify with another gauge.
Took the carb apart and the float looks like cork, painted red. Can find the fuel pump and carb rebuild on here but no float? Would think it should be replaced? Where to find it though....
Not looking to rebuild the motor. Just trying to have a fairly dependable motor for the few times this year I will be able to take it out on a small lake. If anyone thinks this is more than a carb rebuild, then I have no problem throwing in the towel and looking for another motor.
Any suggestions arer appreciated!
Thank You,
John
