1963 850 gear oil/How much? Also how much slack when in reverse?

I have changed the gear oil. 500ml went in from empty. I have noticed that i can almost move the prop 90 degrees freely when reverse is engaged. is this much slack normal?

The lower unit is full when oil flows freely (without any air bubbles) from the upper vent hole, when you're filling thru the (lower) drain hole. If that took half a liter then it doesn't sound unreasonable.

The dogs on the reverse clutch and gear are designed differently than fwd gear assy and it sounds like normal free play. As long as the prop stops firmly in both directions when you're moving it with the L/U shifted into reverse.
