Hi all! Long time reader/lurker, 2nd time poster. I've been reading posts on this site for some time, and I'm always impressed with the vast amount of knowledge that is given so freely! I'm sure others have said it, but I want to add my thanks up front...
Last year, I bought a '63 Starcraft Jupiter and I've been looking for something to push it through the water...well, I think I found my answer: 1963 Kiekhaefer Mercury 650 4cylinder.....what I can't seem to find is a good manual for less than I paid for the outboard... The one link that keeps popping up for oldmercs.com seems to get hijacked by something called eastcoastmarinesupplies.com or something similar... Has anyone else experienced this?
I thought at first my title was wrong (I know, government agencies NEVER make a mistake), because every time I looked up my model number, it kept coming up 1964....that is, UNTIL I added KIEKHAEFER to my search. Is there a differnece between Mercury and Kiekhaefer Mercury???

Merc and Kiek are the same. I have a M-K and no problems. A manual is probably between 40-60 bucks, some times more from what I've seen.

Where is ECMS coming into play? I just chose a manual and went through the check-out up to putting in my card info and it was Old Mercs all the way.

Oh - What's your serial number?

East Coast Marine bought out Grubb's Marine (who ran OldMercs.com) several years ago. East Coast has kept OldMercs active and generally does a pretty good job of it. They might be a tad slow this time of year as their staffing is cut back during the off months, though.

Get the 1965 & Prior Mercury Manual, Part #C-90-25500. If you get sticker shock from them, you can find them used on eBay for less.

Carl Kiekhaefer founded Mercury. For many years it was Kiekhaefer Corporation, makers of Mercury Outboards.

Brunswick bought out Carl Kiekheafer , then he got upset that his name was still attached to the Mercury brand.-----Brunswick then changed it to Mercury Marine
