I have a question that's been puzzling me since I dissambled the lower end gears. When I took off the gear housing cover there was 3 "washers" that came off with it.All most the same diameter as the cover. That seemed odd but I continued with the dissasembly.I took some pictures of the shaft, carrier, gears and the 3 "washers".Could someone look at the photos and see if I'm missing anything. The foward gear bearings, and I'm assuming that there should be a shim between the bearing and housing, are still in the housing. The clutch dog and spring are still on the prop shaft.I got a funny feeling that someone dissembled this and didn't put the shims back in there place.

Sounds like the reverse gear shims as they go in housing and carrier sent against them..

I don't follow to what you said. When I took off the gear housing cover the shims were sandwiched between the cover and the bearing carrier.Should they be there?I'll try to send a picture of the shims.
