I have a 63 Merc1000. Recently bought on a 1970 19' sabercraft. Am currently rebuilding, previous owner had everything jerry-rigged, now trying to work around it. Rebuilt carbs, fuel pumps, new spark plugs and wires, coils, still need lots more. working on the quicksilver remote control and have some fried wires, extra ones and no idea what connects to what. have the mercury service manual (#90-25500) but not quite enough info. fed up and want to make my own cluster and harness. Can i use the remote control for the throttle control and direction, use new key switch, new button for choke? How would i rig up the rest of the wires to make it work properly?

I have a 62 Merc 1000. It runs pretty well however the armatage on top of the starter motor snapped off! Do you have any info on how to get a new one?

I also have the Merc "Bible" (service manual) which may help you.

I can copy the info required and send it through.

What is this? "The Night of the Living Merc 1000's" ?

Yes you can.... and the wiring diagrams in the Mercury "1965 and Prior" manual are all you need. There's no magic there, just 4-5 straight 12v circuits.

-W

got it done a long time ago and it all works, it was more complicated than just 4-5 straight 12v circuits because the key switch was a newer one than was before and the back was sealed up so i couldnt tell which wires were for what but with my own genius i figured it out. thanks -dunc
