I have looked on Iboat, Called around town. I just can't get any luck.
First I am a little confused because this is Gale Model number GG18820A SeaKing 15hp sold my Mong Wards. But then I think Evinrude and Johnson took over in 63 or chryislar, I don't know.

Just looking for a seal kit for the lower unit. because white milky stuff in water and when boat sits in garage is not a good thing. Thinking is lower unit mix with water and not gas/oil mix in water.(can't be sure, don't know enough) I know its coming out of the lower exit port just above the prop.

anyone know of a kit number or a kit that will work?

Thanks
Jeremy.

1963 was the last year Gale Sea Kings were made. The GG in the model number means Gale. Chryslers were VWB in the model numbers. Gale Products was a division of OMC, as were Johnson and Evinrude.

So, order a seal kit for a 1963 Evinrude or Johnson.

I look into a evin/john seal, I could also try bringing it into shop. But would Like to run it, until I have the kit. Just putting in new grease everytime or every other.

Thanks for the help guys. its hard finding anything on these old gale motors, johnsons/evens are much easier.

Lot's of parts are common, gale was built by OMC up until then, there are slight differences but the majority of the parts from OMC will fit, thank your lucky stars it's not a Chysler motor, even harder to get parts.

As I said, order a seal kit for a 1963 Evinrude or Johnson. What I forgot to say was 18 horsepower. I didn't bother following your link because a 1976 15hp is a totally and completely different animal.

Going back to your original post. Is the white goop coming out of the machined holes in the LU or did you remove the lower drain screw and check what came out? It wasn't clear what you did?

Not coming out of screw. Its coming out of the lower exhaust port just above the prop. There are two exhaust ports a lower one on the antiventalition plate and one just below the power head, Thats were I see most of the water come out of. Its not a stream shooter like new motors, just gargles water :).
got my part names from this diagram

I see white stuff in water some times when I first start motor and when I have it sit in garage it leaks out of lower exhaust port. (Sunday I might find time to rip into it, just have been so busy.)

thanks for your help.

That sounds like normal exhaust goo. I would crack the lower screw a bit and see what comes out before doing any work.

Re: 1963 Seaking 15 HP Looking for SEAL

What I could find is, That the lower unit fluid was fine. Some of the grease was riding up the shifting rod between the rod and the barring. The kit it got did not have a baring in it, So I just put the new seal on, and a few of the new O-rings.

But now I have a big issue, no water coming out. So I need to find more time, crack it open check the coper tube and maybe replace impeller. It's becoming a head ach.
