1963 westbend

i just found 1963 westbend 35hp running at fair price could someone tell me if this engine is worth buying? can i still get parts for it? are they reliable,and is westbend there own company or does someone else make westbend

West Bend is the grandfather of Force. Chrysler bought them out, called them Chryslers, then changed the name to Force before selling out to Mercury. They might have been good engines, but getting sold, name changed, then sold again doesn't sound like a hot selling line.

My guess is that the outboard salvage yards are loaded with parts for them. (check the Engine FAQs Forum)

I have no idea what is a fair price or if that one is worth buying. If it will demo on the water it's gotta be worth a C-note. There is some value in being the only guy on the lake with a unique outboard. . .provided it runs, that is. :)

I believe Chrysler bought them out shortly after the '63 model year, so you might even find Chrysler parts that will interchange with that.

ok thanks guys bought it anyhow just good shape got 63 west bend 35hp supose to run good havent tried it yet with controls and complete wiring +1958 35hp big twin with wiring and gas tank no controls i think a seal of a deal $500.00 for all what ya think good deal?
