1964 28hp High Speed 'Needle' - Sanity check

I have to assume this is normal, but I'd really like for someone else to look at my high speed needle and confirm its supposed to look/work like this. I've posted the diagram of the carb showing what looks to be an actual needle for the high speed side, but mine is literally nothing more than a rounded off rod that appears to just seat into the inlet at the base of the bowl.

My outboard has ran (seemingly ok), it just seems like there is little no adjust-ability with this setup as compared to a sharp type needle. Am I missing something here?

Looks normal to me.----I do have a bunch of those era carburetors to look if I had time.

ok no worries, then. I just felt like the 'needle' should have more of a point to it and go into a seat/orifice of some kind. And the diagram was confirming my suspicions.

I'll throw her back together and see what happens. Thanks!

actually when you look closely a pointy needle would never be able to do much flow control wise….in such a large orifice on the base of the HS post
