1964 3hp lightwin

I have a 3hp lightwin that I have I would like to replace the rubber ring on gas cap vent. However, I cant figure how to get vent screw off.

You may not be able to without doing terminal damage The whole cap assembly is listed as one part!

The rubber ring on the vent is not necessary to how it works. I have several old OMC's that run fine without them.

That's true but if the rubber ring has gone you cannot properly close the vent.

Thanks for the information. I will not attempt to deal with it. I got this motor last winter, and it was in bad shape. I put new gas lines, points, plugs, wires, coils, impeller, head gasket, carb kit and lower end grease. Now the engine runs great! I love these engines.
