i just recently bought my first boat, it came with the evinrude. i dont know much about boat motors seeing as i,m new to this boating thing. my problem is the motor will start then it idles up then slows and dies then wont start very easily afterwards, i think it might be getting flooded. any ideas?

played with the adjustments got it to start almost everytime, runs great in high speed but wants to cut out and die in idle and low speed or when i put it in gear.

bring it to a lake or ocean whichever is closest to you to make the adjustments, adjust it in gear so that it will have a load applied to the motor. Adjust your low speed mixture until you attain the highest rpm and you should be good to go

Else, it could be time to rebuild the carb.

get the BRP equivilent it comes with the good seals and a new float theyre only about 20 bux

the sierra kits are garbage no viton seals so the wont last ten mins against the ethanol ... plus for a buck more you get a float and if its still got the old cork one in it that may be part of your problem
oem kit

for the record ... parts for these are VERY commonand usually pretty cheap ( i have a 1956 5.5 - same motor different cowling )
