Just looking for a part for the above motor ... it's part #13 in the parts manual. It's a seal for the lower cover to housing #308203. Tried Seaway, Marine Engines (shows it as not available)? Can I make this gasket? If so, what type of gasket material?

Thank you.

Some have used rubber hose slit length wise. nymarine.ca has the correct part.

If that gasket is a rubber one, you can purchase this material in sheets in about any thickness form www.mscdirect.com, or if it is a thick paper impregnated material, they should have it also. Or try your local automotive parts store.

It is a spongy rubber stuff. It has to be gas & oil-proof or it won't last any time at all. Unless you are a real stickler for originality, just leave the darn thing out. They only put it in there 1962-64 anyway, then they stopped using it in newer models. It might even breathe a bit better without it.

EN2, he isn't talking about the hood seal
