I have an oily residue coming out of a weep hole in my lower unit on my Sportwin. Did I blow the lower seal on the motor head? And now its running down the shaft and out the hole?

Thanks,

CZ

Captain, weep holes are actually drain holes,so water can drain out.Usually they drain a blackish color oil/water/fuel mix.If the oil is fresh and clean looking, you may have a problem.
DHP

DHP,

I've run the motor a few weekends now and this is the first time I've seen this.

Houston, we have a problem.

It looks expensive. :)

I have a mechanic I've used. He's 81 years old, I always hope he gets my motor finished before he drops dead! I'm half his age, he'll probably outlive me!

DHP,

From the other posts I've read, it sounds as though it is left over oil from the head that runs out the exhaust(if the motor is left standing). Is this your hypothosis also?

It is not gear case oil. I checked that.

I ran some sea foam through the motor and now I changed the plugs and will see how she runs this weekend.
