1965 40 horse evinrude parts needed

need to find a lower unit bottom cover for my 1965 40 horse evinrucde outboard and new bearings for it also hit something in the water and cracked it can you have them welded?<br /><br />Thank You

I'd weld it. As for the bearings buy new, you<br />will be better off in the long run.<br />Have a good welder do it or a prop shop do it. Use marine-tex to finish the covering the weld and Loc-tite Master gasket to seal the bottom halves together where the rubber string is.<br />...have fun...corm

856-785-9455 is Barnacle Bills near me in S Jersey. He's been buying up old new stock parts for OMC's for 15 years. He's got bins of parts for that 65 new and used. Make sure you tell him that lower gearcase half has the SS pin that holds the shifter. The earlier one's(pre59) didn't use that pin. After that their all the same. No doubt he'll have the bearings also, but if you can get the numbers off them a NAPA can order them and save you considerable.<br /><br /> You'd probably be better off finding a whole gearcase on Ebay. Just do a search in the Boats/power section under Johnson and evinrude. Dunk

Hey Big Four, would this Barnacle Bill by chance have a powerhead for my '65 Johnson 40hp? Im hoping not to have to pay tooo much for the thing... probably best to give him a ring eh?<br />Thanks<br />Craig
