The prop will turn only slightly then it catches, and will go no further. Additionally, if i did not have the motor in "lock" position, would that cause that? Also, if the two "clutch coil" wires coming up from the lower unit were reversed, that is, plugged into the incorrect two wires coming down from mid-unit could that cause this problem?<br /><br />One more thing: if the twenty roller bearings were removed from above the pinion gear around that magnitized shaft, what would happen? They fell out when we opened it up and they seem imposible to get back in even with the engine upside down. Thank you for all your help, please respond. The bearings seem to have no purpose other than increasing friction. I wonder why they are there?
