I don't know much about the electric shift. What I do know is that the lower unit is good and it will go into forward and reverse by touching the green wire or blue wire to 12V. Where does this 12V come from when the motor is operational? I cant find the switch..... It wont go into gear by moving the lever on the side of the motor that the controls would hook to. The metal box that all the wires come in and out of is a mess.

The shift switch is part of the remote control (throttle assembly), which would have the throttle lever and gear selection switches in it.

The junction box being a mess certainly isn't helping the situation any. The power has to get through that mess after the control switch sends it that way. Besides, the voltage regulator is in there and your generator won't work without it. When the battery is almost dead, the motor will still run but the electric clutches will slip. They won't last long if slipping. And if the battery is dead, you don't go anywhere!

Extremely expensive parts. Might be worth as much as the whole rest of the motor.
