My motor starts and runs well in neutral, reverse seems fine, but when I engage forward gear i can not achieve full speed, runs at about 1/4 to 1/3 normal. If i crank it full over no acceleration past low speed, and tends to stall out after a while - will run if I keep the throttle turned back. Trouble last I ran it (end of last season) when it kept stalling, I thought it was old gas.
Points and impellor replaced start of last season.

Hi, John.

Your problem is most likely to be lost spark on one cylinder.

Your engine has essentially two magnetos that share one flywheel. That is good because by swapping parts you can easily isolate the failed part, if, of course, your points are clean and correctly gapped.

Good luck. :)
