1965 Seahorse 18hp fuel feed question

When I pump the bulb on my Seahorse I sometimes get fuel leaking from where the pipe joins the motor. I have read about changing the hard to remove O ring so I think I'd rather change the female connector (on the fuelfuel feed.jpg tank end) for simplicity - they seem cheap enough and I'd have to send to the US for O rings whereas I can get the whole connector here in the UK. However I'm confused about the 2 female connector sizes on offer - 3/8" or 5/16"? I've tried to attach a pic of the motor side of the connection with measurements - can anyone advise which size female connector I need please?

(Also I have highlighted a chrome bracket - what is it intended for?)

The different sizes are for the inside of the fuel hose; if your hose is 3/8" then that's the size you get if smaller 5/16" get that the female side to the motor is the same. The beacket is for attaching a cable to be used for remote operation of the motor.

Thanks! I need a 3/8" then. I'd assumed it was something to do with the length of the 'prong' on the male side. When I join the 2 parts together there is a bit of fowards/backwards play in the joint- perhaps 1/8". Is that normal?

On my Johnson 15 there is a slight amount of play but the o-ring is snug enough not allow air t be sucked in.

Great advice. For some reason, so many people look for aftermarket right away, and forget about the correct OEM parts.

Same advice for the orings. Just get the correct ones, unless you want to do it twice.
