I just was passed down a near mint condition 1965 Starcraft Bahama. This boat is so awesome looking. What do you all think this might be worth? It has an orignal 1965 MErcury 65 HP, everything is orignal and mint, and even came with the manuals in perfect condition.

I love the boat but just wondering is this thing worth anything?

Re: 1965 Starcraft Bahama

Welcome to iboats! The problem with the old fiberglass hulls is the trasom wood and the stringer are often rotten, and are a major project to replace which is why many folks shy away from them. If this one is in solid shape (frankly, a long shot) it could be worth a few hundred. The engine on the other had, can be much more valuable. If its running, it can be worth $500-$700 or so. To further complicate an estimate, it depends heavily on where you live. Assuming the wood is good and the engine runs well, I would estimate the value at $900-$1000. If the wood is gone, you could easily be looking at over $700 in value with the trailer and engine. Hope this helps, and again welcome aboard!

How much is the seller asking? Did he/she give you any idea if it has been stored inside or out...or given you any other pertinent history about the boat/motor?

Little 50's and 60's runabouts are still pretty much a dime a dozen and parts are tough to find for 60's Mercs. Mint condition is certainly a plus but you're still not sitting of a gold mine. $1000-$1500 is probably all you could get out of it. Maybe $2k in the Spring to the right buyer but doubtful.

Sounds like a cool boat though and we'd sure like to see some pics if you got 'em.

Better pics on the way, no signs of any stress in the stern, seriously looks like it's been garaged it's whole life and maybe used a handful of times, this thing is absolutely mint, what an awesome little boat.

keep it and use it. worth more that way than as $. very few folks want to buy a 45+ yr old boat even if it is in beautiful shape when they can get something from the 80s for similar $. there's a very similar boat locally not selling at 350 and a tin one in ABq for 550. very few people appreciate old boats as much as the mob here. welcome, BTW.
