New to forum here... my husband has bought himself a 1965 StarCraft Jet Star and is in the process of restoring it. This forum has been a wealth of information for us! So far we have stripped the boat down (seats, floor, transom which were all pretty rotten) Also the windshield has a major crack in it. It came with the original 1966 (?) Mercury 550 outboard. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome aboard! This site has been invaluable to me in my restos too! Any pics of your Jet Star?

Looks like a great platform to start with. You can tell your husband he did well buying the Jet :watermelon:

I think the Merc is a 500, but I'm not a Merc expert.

Look thru BGC's windshield thread, he's working on a new DIY windshield (frame too I think) for his Jet:
1963 Jet Star Windshield Replacement

And there are a couple other DIY windshield threads floating around, when the time comes.

welcome to the delirious horde. don't forget that the simplest and often the cheapest windshield answer is just retrofitting one from a newer boat, unless you're going for the 100% period-correct look
