I have had this happen twice to me .
the first time had been out for few hours (4 or 5)fishing and moving the waves came up a bit so headed in boat was pounding a bit in waves then it died. pull off hood and carb is drooling fuel. I taped carb thinking stuck float with no luck . I got towed in.
I took the carb off blew it all out (was clean) couldn't see issue put it back together and all seemed ok
Second time Last Sat out fishing water was calm to start . got out a fair bit and the wind picked up some headed back in pounding some waves then it quit and card drooling . This time I got it to run not well at all but enough to limp in .
When i got home pulled carb off and down again . Once more I see nothing to cause the needle to stick . float is set level and needle seems to be smooth in bore
the carb was rebuilt last fall with all new parts but the float
I did sink the float in fuel for about 3 hr and it floated after so I'm not thinking it is sinking
