Yeaterday I bought a 1966 Gulf Stream 17ft. with a Mercuiser 1 Stern Drive Unit serial # 2028545 ..Mercuiser Marine Engine serial # 2045309 Model # 120. The price was right. Every thing for $300.00. The boat has not been used for 8 years. It has been covered up and except for some TLC it checked out pretty good. Did find some soft wood top top of Transom. Didn't notice any soft wood on floor, but it is coverred with carpet. I will check this out later. Also the boat has a removal hard top. The owner didn't have any Manual on the boat. There is a operation and Maintenance Manual for the engine. Does anyone have any information where I can get parts for the engine and drive unit? Thanks:)

Check Out swampboy_bucket 30300@uploads.photobucket.com The only thing I found was some soft wood upper right side transom. I dug down aprox 8" and found good wood?? I will contact the rot doctor for some advice. Also I'm getting a motor manual from Iboats. I know I'm posting my own reply. Hopefully I learn how to use this forum correctly. Ijust checked out the photobucket and the pictures did not go thru????Have to try again..

Before you spend a lot of money getting it running, you might want to be sure of just how much rotten wood you have. Unless you have real deep pockets and plan on doing a complete restoration you might want to rethink this.

Thanks for your comments. I agree. Just because I got everything for $300.00 doesn't mean I should spend a bundel on "My First New Old Boat. I have been getting alot of info. from the forums. There are some areas I intend to stay away from money wise. I do not have "Deep Pockets". I'm 74 yrs young and I will be working alone. If things really look to be too much, I may just get a small fishing boat. I will keep you posted.
