1966 Johnson 9.5 oil gas mix?

Research seems to indicate that a 24 to 1 mix is recommended over 50 to 1 for a 1966 Johnson 9.5 model # MQ-12A. Anyone have info. Also what does the A stand for in the model #??

The correct ratio is 50:1. The A is a factory run during the model year. It sometimes indicates a change of parts during the year.
