Hey all,
Re-posting with a different subject in hopes that it will catch someone's eye that has more knowledge than me
Awhile back I discovered that my lower unit had been taking on water. Now after getting new parts I'm getting ready to re-assemble my lower unit. Browsing over the manual it appears that the forward gear bearing just slides easily over the propeller shaft. From my automotive background I would think that this bearing should be pressed onto the shaft. What is to keep the propeller shaft from slipping inside the inner bearing race? My old bearing fits in the same manner with no obvious wear on the propeller shaft. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Robert
