I am trying to replace the pinion gear on the top of the starter that engages the flywheel. I have the entire starter off the motor, but cannot remove the "roll pin" (the pin that rides in the slot on the pinion gear) from the shaft. The manual that I have just says to remove, no instructions on how to do so, so I assume it is just supposed to slide out; however, this is not working. I appreciate any info available. Thanks in advance.
Dustin

Hey Dustin,
I don't have a picture here in front of me to see what ya mean but usually roll pins drive in or out. You may have to use some penertrating oil, and not WD-40, to loosen it up. Try PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench or something like that and let it soak overnight.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
