1966 Merc 9.8 HP value for parts

I have the above motor and someone has offered me $50 for it. I know the year is correct. It is is fair condition. I think it may have lower end issues (from what my friend described when he gave it to me). Is this worth more than
$50?

The lower units are the weak point on those motors, so if yours has issues with the unit, $50.00 is a good deal. Not old enough or rare enough to have collector value. If the lower unit was perfect, the motor was running and it looked good & clean, it might draw $200-$250. With an iffy unit, it's not much more than a parts motor...
