Let's go way back in time...

I am looking at a 1966 Aristo Craft with a Mercuiser 110 - which I believe means the 1AEZ outdrive. It is fully operable, and appears to be in very, very good condition (cosmetically). But obviously I'm concerned about the age, parts availability, etc.. How much work to get to retrofit a 1974+ MC-1 or something even newer into the boat - leaving the engine alone if at all possible?? The hull is also in great shape and is a good deal so I may be willing to do this when required if it can be put together from appropriate donor boat, eBay parts, or similar.

Are basic maintenance items like bellows, seals, etc even available for this drive?

Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Almost nothing is still available for the EZ drives. I don't know if the flywheel housing will mount up to a later inner transom plate either. Best option, if you are still dead keen on that boat, would be to find a donor with a 120 or 140 MC-1 or later.

I have the 110 1A ez shift combo. So far i have been able to find everything i need for it. The engine is simple and still can find pretty much any part for. The outdrive if needed to be rebuilt i looked up seals and most are available to get it up and working again. When its time i also will find a alpha 1/engine complete out of a donor boat and do a complete swap...but until then..run it. So far its been a good setup for me. The only thing that i can't figure out is the reverse lock..its the mechanical one on the drive and its siezed up..so sometimes the outdrive pops out of the water..no biggie right now..any questions let me know.

Would you believe I have the reverse lock for one of those
the lower shoe is splined to lock the assembly when shifted into reverse, and unlock when in foward.

i have an extra one also..for parts...but the thing is siezed and screw is stripped so i don't want to mess with it until i do a bellows change next year.

Wow - kinda hearing what I expected but encouraged to see your post prelude219. If I move ahead with this I will definitely pick your brains for parts sources.

Bellows changed coming - so I gather those can be found?

The only item requiring attention soon is the power tilt switch - not working. Owner says he has examined the switch and it is the switch - new pump and lines. Hopefully true and the switch can be repaired or replaced with a work-alike.

Thanks for all the feedback.

yep bellows i think i bought them all individually if i remember..the gasket kit is available to put outdrive on ..Check ebay for your power tilt switch..i found a couple whole dash panels on there that are the same as mine pretty cheap and can be used for other parts as well.

Where do you find parts? Please help. Even classic sites offer almost nothing. Really need some advice on servicing original POWER TILT pump....THANKS!
