I have a Mercury 650 Serial #2017887 and I am have a terrible time finding a couple of parts. The Mercury safety switch and the Plate Rectifier. Anyone know where I could get them? Also could someone explain to me what the Coil Bridge wrie does, and if it is broken will it effect the running of the motor? Thank in advance.

As has been said, you can safely leave the switch disconnected. It is meant to kill the motor if it is tipped up by more than 30 degrees or so - this may only happen if you hit something big and long (a sandbank) OR if you try to start the motor when it is fully up. If want a switch you can get a standard mercury (the metal - not the manufacturer :) ) switch or ball tilt switch from an electronics supplier.

The rectifier can be replaced with a standard 25 amp square bridge rectifier available from almost any electronics supplier (connect the -ve to the motor frame, the +ve to the red wire and the two AC connections to the stator wires - doesn't matter which wire).

What is the Coil Bridge wire? What is it connected to?
