Re: 1966 Niagara, 1960 Evinrude 40HP
Always wanted one for fishing. For a 14' boat it is extremely stable and the solid fiberglass construction is very tough. My nephew has one as well a '68. Riding with him in his made my mind up as to what I was looking for in a fishing boat. One we caught this spring/summer....
Nice laker!
Mine is a 1964 which I have owned since '93-ish. I fish it often- sometimes 3 times a week. I have to pick my days (it's still a 14' boat!) but I even fish Champlain regularly. Traveled to Canadarago and Oneida as well.
GREAT fishing boat, and handy to have a closed bow when waves get over 2-3 feet. And it cleans easy with the solid fiberglass floors- no fish stink in the carpet/
Mine is a "Deluxe" which doesn't have the splash well like the "custom", but I am fine with that. The transom is higher than OEM with a cutout for the '85 Suzuki 40HP. Highest speed on GPS was about 34mph. The original Johnson 40 would only eek out about 26+mph.
I need to photo the interior. You might agree it is a perfect setup for a small big boat. I call it a really big 14-footer!
Anyway, I should post some photos. My fuel tank is under the bow, two batteries flush against the transom, and I built dry lockers that do double duty as seats along the gunwales. Two forward seats on swivels and pedestals and it is fishable for two or three people. More if you like each other LOL.
Congrats
