I was out walleye fishing last night and the motor started running foul. My friend reached into the carb access when he noticed there was no vacum in the one carb stack. I did a recent compression test and all 4 reading right aroud 95 psi. The motor always fires right up. Does anyone know where I might be losing vacum?

Reeds. They gotta break sooner or later. You might've sucked something in that's blocking one. Recheck compression, might've busted a ring and lost compression.

Been a long time since I've seen a 4 cylinder 60hp.Does this have a two barrel down-draft carb?
Normally bad reeds will tend to send a mist out of the carbs, sometimes spitting. But on the down-drafts,I'm not sure you would see it.

I'd suspect worn piston skirts, but that won't happen suddenly.Maybe do the basics, spark, compresion and fuel sample, let us know.

DHP

Think you should check the crankshaft seals..
look for oil under the flywheel for the top seal
leaking/broken,,bottom seam can only be check by pulling power head..if the vac loss ison bottom cyl
would suspect this
