Why is my older 10hp mercury shaking like a leaf?

check spark and compression, sounds like running on one cylinder.

Doesn't seem like its running on one cylinder, it really flies for a 10hp being that old. Just when its at an idle it shakes really bad but when I give it power the really bad shaking goes away. Any suggestions besides sea foam to make it run quieter and smoother?

Might have the idle set too low. Adjust your carb with a load on the motor..like in gear pushing your boat while tied to the dock. Make sure its warmed up good before doing it.
