1967 9.5hp evinrude stalling

Motor sat for years. The motor has new fuel and plugs, starts right up only with full choke even when warm. Stalls several times when putting it in gear. Got it in gear once or twice yet stalled when throttling up. Mixture knob is missing so I don't know where it is (rich or lean). Help!!! I ordered a carb kit, points, and wires hoping a tune-up will solve.

try to find a factory manual on ebay for it. they are pretty simple motors but there are some tricks to them that only the factory manual will tell u

Run your motor with the cover off.Put it in gear,and apply the throttle.If the motor jumps back in the 'housing' and pulls the choke knob out by itself,your motor mounts are shot.<br /><br />DHP
