I definitely have an exhaust leak as the motor does 15 mph at 4800 rpms in my large 1648 flatbottom with the cover off and runs excellent aside from idling as low and smooth as it should. With the cover on it, the rpms drop down 1000 rpms or so and the speed goes down a couple mph too. With the cover on I can also lean it out all the way on the low speed needle and get the rpms and speed to climb slightly but not back to what it was with the cover off.

Since I have another, newer motor to use I'd like to go ahead and try to fix this one in my spare time. I figured I would just go ahead and replace all of the potential exhaust leak causing parts but many seem discontinued. I found this picture elsewhere online, but it shows the two I am having trouble finding...#1 and #3 as circled and hand labeled in the image. Can someone point me to a place I can still find them and at a somewhat reasonable price?

Many Evinrude dealers have access to an on-line database to search other dealers' stock for obsolete parts on hand. This may be your quickest way.

Thanks. I will call around.

Upon further thinking, I also seem to recall user cajuncook linking a site that still had some maybe 6 months ago. Not sure if they were ONS or what so they may have sold out. Anyone recall that?

I'm thinking www.nymarine.ca had them, but their website seems to have disappeared. I hope that's only temporary. Peter is a great guy to do business with.

That sounds very familiar and was probably it. It doesn't appear down though but rather just set up to sell outboard paint now. Maybe someone else bought the domain.

Yep... I actually emailed him this morning and he just sent back the link to the page with the shift rod boot. It is just a little hard to navigate the site. I still don't see the main exhaust seal anywhere but he may not have ever had those.
