1967 evinrude 80hp (tach)

howdy im trying to hook up the tach on my motor. i have ran new wires up to the bow. if i hook it up to the motor it works fine, but if i hook it up to the bow i wont work. can any one help me? wrong wire or what???? thanks guys<br /><br /><br />FISH ON!!!!!

Okay, what wires have you ran to the bow? What are they connected to? (not the tach end, the other end)<br /><br />c/6<br />Hooty

to ground and i think the rotor.

i ran 1 new wire to ground and the other to the distribitor. did i use the wrong king of wire or what?
