Hi fellow boaters. I have another project that I'm working on that going to need a lot of help. I found this sport win 9.5 from a flee market that i trying resurrect, got new carb rebuild kit, water pump kit, and other miscellaneous part to make it complete again. I'm going to rebuild the carb, which including removing and cleaning of the fuel idle mixture needle. i need your knowledge on the re-installation process and how to set it in the right position. is there a reference point or a certain number of turn of the needle valve to get it start. i have not remove the carb yet but looks like this motor have been in come rough hand. thank you

You only need to get it somewhere in the ball park, so don't make a big deal of it. A turn and a half from lightly seated is good enough to get it running. Adjust it from there for best slow idle, on a boat, on the lake, warmed up and hood on.

Most / many folks pick on the carburetor with their trouble shooting.------On one of those motors the first thing I do is take the flywheel off.----Inspect the magneto.----Always find either 2 new coils or it needs a set.----So do that before worrying about adjusting the idle mixture.

before you spend to much money did you check compression... these oldies have low compression sometimes.... but work fine with 65-70lbs but to low compression may mean bad head gasket leaky rings whatever

take a look at Leroys articles to guide you a bit ... that carb is tricky a bit with it's mounting screws

lots to read about 9.5 on this site
