Hi JB...
Yes...OMC Only made a fiberglass hull from the early 60's to 1970,,or 1971.I never seen one around this part of the country...OMC made then in the Evinrude name and Johnson...The Sportsman was a type of fish and ski boat,,and they made runabouts,,,15 to 19 ft....This is the web page I got the info from... WWW.Ultimate.com/omc-boats
I hope that link helps....

Southernman: I am familiar with the boats. Saw a "Sportsman", I think sitting by the road here in Iowa a couple of years ago, and I know where (and I'm not telling, yet) there is a beautiful runabout in a barn. I'm not sure of the runabout model, but it was closed bow, solid windshield. I believe OMC called them "gull wing" hulls. I wish now I would have saved those old catalogs I ordered as a kid, back in the '60's. Anyway, I always thought they were cool boats and I may just try to get that runabout someday. "Save yer Dixie Cups, the South will rise again!!" and you sure as hell don't need Neil Young around either.

Good boats. Well built. Nice heavy duty custom made trailers came with them if they're original. OMC built their boats all in house, so everything is made to go in the boat and fits well. Very nice fit and finish compared to other boats of the same vintage. They were pricey for their day and advanced.

If the boat ever sinks you can sell the trailer to a company that moves houses or hauls bulldozers. Over engineered is an understatement when it came to those old OMC trailers:)

Tell me about it. I only wish someone still made trailers like that. I've never seen a trailer that well built. Nothing made now, even for boats twice as big even comes close.

Mine has the original trailer and you are right about the over kill !--It is a nice well built trailer--My boat was used as a fire department rescue boat for all its life.
