Re: 1967 Evinrude V4 60HP prop??
When I looked in my 1974 OMC accessories brochure they listed 3 props available to span the 60, 65, 75, 80, 85 & 90 V4s through 1968 (that?s 1960 ? 68). Although I don?t expect that you can rush out and buy any new one (I might be wrong though), clearly there is interchange between all those motors. That is my point. With so many of those old V4s in circulation, quite a few as parts motors by now, you could grab a used prop and experiment.
The old catalogue lists the following specs for props (diameter x pitch):
10 x 9 ?
10 1/8 x 11
10 x 12
All are aluminum 3-blade. There are no specifics as to boat length and speed on the chart (presumably because there is such a wide horsepower spread, plus a large range in boat length and boat speed.).
A prop isn?t chosen so much to purely gain mph, as it is to allow the motor to reach (but not exceed!) peak rpm at full throttle.
What size boat do you have? Is it a planing hull or a displacement hull? Do you plan to water ski with it? Generally a smaller, lighter boat does better with a small diameter, greater pitch prop. Large hulls benefit from a larger diameter and smaller pitch.
60 horseower is at the bottom of the V4 range, so I believe that Jimmbo's recommendation of a 10 x 9? is probably the best advice unless you're power a large pontoon boat or houseboat. If you don?t get any other recommendations from experienced Speedifour owners, you could still try picking up a used prop or two and experimenting. That?s my humble opinion and free advice. Hopefully it is good.
