1967 Johnson 3hp - thermostat location

I recently acquired a 1967 3hp Johnson and it is overheating. I plan on replacing the impeller and the t-stat. Could someone please tell me where the t-stat is located. Thanks

You'll never find it because it doesn't have one.

No stat, as F R said.

It's most likely the impeller. If you still have troubles, post back. They sometimes get crud built up in the connection between the powerhead and the mid section.

Thanks for your responce F_R & DWJ. I will not work on this impeller replacement until the springtime. Also,
I have to get an impeller. F_R I like your sence of humor.

That can cause the engine to overheat after running a few minutes. It's the result of not maintaining the cooling system, causing calcium buildup.

EDIT: Oops, I see that one has already been addressed!

Replace the entire water pump assembly. It is'nt that costly, and will solve the problem..
