Am going to opt for new fuel pump.

While at it, should I get carb rebuild kit? What is best way to unscrew high speed jet apart from special tool the manual recommends?

Does this motor have leaf valves (forgive the naivete of the question- I have never worked on any but single cylinder 2 strokes), and if so, are they under the intake manifold (where else?). Should these be replaced while I am at it?

Is there an oil drain relief valve? If so should I check this?

I know, I know, check the manual(s). I have and sometimes get confused.

Many thanks. Am aiming for end of month vacation.

Bednick

Hey Bednick......how bout I just come over to Bos and fix that sucker for ya'?...... :)

OK....yes, if you don't know when the carb has been cleaned and rebuilt, good move....do it. If the bowl really isn't gummed up, don't worry about taking the jet out, just shoot some choke and carb cleaner through it and check it with a flashlite.

If the carb wasn't spitting back out the carb when it was running, don't worry about the reeds. They are in the intake manifold behind the carb and you would be getting into a lot more work than you want.

The drain relief is also in the intake manifold. Don't worry about it. Just get the pump, rebuild the carb and go on vacation. Keep us up to date on what going on.

By the by....I'll work for beer....Bud Longnecks to be specific....... :D :D

OBJ, TYVM for the offer of fixing it for me. However I love working on mechanical things- rebuilt 2 British Seagull Outboards, and 2 MG Midgets (One twice including engine, etc.)so u can see I am a pretty hopless nut.

U r welcome 2 visit anytime u visit Boston area, but camnnot spring for the beer- been sober over 10 years. Will provide soft drinks however, and can watch u drink beer which I never did like as I preferred Vodka!

Anyway, tyvm for the help. Will keep u up to date.
