Hello all First post here!
My brother and I recently bought an old Jon Boat to use for some fishing trips, it came with a merc 110 and an evinrude 6hp for a total of $400 the boat needs a little tlc but looks to be pretty good!
We tried to get the merc 110 going this weekend, changed spark plugs fogged the cylinders and with the choke open and some starting spray we were able to get it to run. Eventually it was able to start without the starting spray but we couldn't get it to idle in neatral for more then 10 seconds but if we put it in drive and started it it would run for about 30 seconds to a minute then die, now it consistently starts and runs but will die after about 30 seconds in drive. I can see that if we squeeze the bulb in the tank line some gas will drip out of the fuel line going to the carb so figure I need to replace that and am thinking I need to redo the fuel pump and Carb too? Do you all think this would be a good bet as to where to start? I did remove the fuel filter and it wasn't that dirty at all. Are there any write ups on how to rebuild the pump and the carb? Also what parts should I buy?
