Just got this motor on my duckboat. It has sat for about 1 1/2 years since I got it and I don't know how long before that. It started right up and I have been running some sea-foam through it. The telltale is weak so I got an impeller kit, gas pours out of the carb when I tilt it up so I got a rebuild kit and float. I haven't sprung for a manual yet because I wanted to be sure it wasn't too much motor for my little duckboat. Ok...short story long....what all do I need to disconnect to drop the lower for the impeller change? On my 25 Mariner, there is a clip for the shift shaft (throttle shifter) the 110 has a lever on the side for FNR. Thanks for any and all advice.

On the 110 there are 2 nuts one on the bottom of the cavition plate and one at the front that goes down and the unit will come down, when reinsalling it make sure it and the linkage are in the same gear

Thank you Laddies, wasn't sure if something unhooked under the cowling or not. I'll get at it tonight probably if it isn't 98 degrees in the shop.

Spent 3 hours changing the impeller tonight. And I still don't have it back together! It get's to within a inch and a quarter and that's it. I got it screwed back together once but it wouldn't shift...took it back apart and can't figure what is stopping it from sliding back together smoothly. Any thoughts would sure be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 1967 Merc 110

Thanks Bill, The next night, with a cooler head, I got it back together. The upper shift rod kind of dangles around and doesn't line up with the hole that the lower shift rod goes into..I had to wiggle the shift handle while pushing the lower unit up (what a chore) and it finally slid in. I rebuilt the carb , put a new float in it and took it back to the lake. It pee's great but now it won't run more than 10 -20 seconds. Choking doesn't help except to start. The hose from the block to the fuel pump broke,it was original and brittle so I got a piece of 3/16 gas hose and put it on...the center of the old hose was about a 16th in diamaetr and I'm wondering if it's pulsing the pump too hard or too soft? When I tilt the motor up, gas drips from the carb throat..maybe I didn't get the float stops set correctly? Thanks for reading..Lee

I doesn't seem to me that hose diameter should make any difference, but I suppose if could if the fuel pump is marginal. But the volume of the crankcase is much larger than the volume of the inside of the hose, so hard to see how that could matter.

Try squeezing the bulb to see if that keeps it running. If so, it's a fuel delivery problem, and you may need to check the fuel pump. If squeezing the pump doesn't help, then it's more likely some kind of carb problem (you do have sperk when it dies, yes?). Your dripping fuel seems like maybe a float issue. You could pull a plug to see if it is wet or dry (flooding or starving).
