1967 Merc 650. Question about Tilt Assist Shocks.

Concerning tilt assist shocks for my 1967 Merc 650. 1.) How do I tell if they are bad? can they be repaired or purchased? 2.) Did they make a power T&T for this model.

Being the new owner of a dilapidated 1967 650ss I'd also love to hear about what tilt/trim units were made for these or are compatible.
