1968 55HP enverude power tilt

Hi all, I was hopeing that someone can tell me if I have to use a relay. Or can I hook up the power tilt moter (3 wire arco) direct to a 3 post switch.. Blue for up to one side of the switch. Green for down to the other side of the switch. Black to the ground. And just run + power to the center of the switch. Can any confirm this. If I do it this way, will I burn up the tilt motor. I just paid 400.00 for a new one, so I want to make sure I can run it this way.

Generally the switches are only capable of handling the primary current of a solenoid. The solenoid is used to handle the motor current. You will need two, one for up and one for down.
