Hi, I'm new here, I have a 15' tri-hull boat I've been re-doing the transom and floor. It came with a 68' Evinrude 100hp outboard. I can't get any spark to the plugs. I did all the testing from the repair manual and found that the small sensor under the flywheel is bad. You can cross the two wires that go to the sensor and it will fire. secondly I believe that the "CD-65" module mounted behind the engine is bad too! crossing the wires to the sensor will only spark after I "Whack" the module with a hammer! I found this out after loosing my penitence with It, and then gave it a good whack and it worked for a while, but when the key is turned off and back on, you have to give it another whack for it to work! I priced the sensor and the module and can't get myself to spend $600 on a engine that I have never heard run. I got this boat for free. is there any other way to get this engine to run any cheaper? like a conversion to some other kind of system? I'm a firm believer in points and condenser systems
