I have a 1968 Evinrude 6hp outboard that I have converted to a pressure washer power head. I fired it up on the stand the other day and was getting oil leaking from the lower unit from a hole on the bottom of the cavitation plate. I am not very experienced with outboards and am hoping you all can tell me what I can do to plug it. I also noticed that I have oil weeping from the top fill hole on the lower unit when running in gear on the stand. I would like to replace the gasket/o ring for both lower unit oil fill screws. Does anybody know where I can find these? Below I have attached pictures of the cavitation plate hole and oil fill screws.

That hole is a drain hole to prevent water from standing in the cavity above it when not in use. It should not be plugged. If there is oil coming out of it, your shift rod seal probably is leaking. Saying that because of your unusual set-up. Oil drainage coming out of there is normal in its intended two-stroke configuration.

Drain & fill plugs & washers are available right here at iboats.

Thanks for the info. I wish I would have known that a few weeks ago. I had the lower end apart to remove the water pump impeller. Oh well. I assume I can find them under the 'shop' tab at the top of the page. I will take a look and see what I can find.

F_R, do you think I would do damage to the lower end if I took it for a brief test run as it is? I want to test the tiller handle throttle I hooked up and see if taking the water pump impeller out worked.

Won't hurt a thing, as long as the lower unit is full of oil
