I have aquired this, I believe, 18 HP Evinrude Fastwin. Need year and verify HP.
Model # 183023E
S/N E06926

I do not have a fuel tank for this, does it require a pressurized tank? I am hoping not!
Appreciate any info / insight, before I "restore" it! Thanks!

looks like 1963. how many prongs are on the fuel inlet. 2 or 3. if it has one above and one below, it is not pressurized. if it has one above centered over the 2 below it is a pressurized system. you can find pressurized tanks on ebay, i paid $60 for a good one. welcome to the forum.

Thanks, I appreciate your help! The fuel inlet has three prongs, only one is not centered over two, the configuration is that of an "L" shape. Will watch ebay for a tank, if anyone else knows of a tank for sale, please contact me, thanks!

If it's a '63, it ought to take a regular fuel tank. A more appropriate question might be, how many hoses attach to the fuel connector? If it's one, then it takes the same tank and connector as a modern Johnson or Evinrude; available anywhere.
If there are two hoses, your model number must be wrong.

I looked at this again.....model # 18302E - E06926.
What I originally thought to be a third "prong" turned out to be, after closer inspection, a part of the bracket, so it does appear to have just two prongs on the fuel inlet. I do not have the hose yet either, but will assume that 2 prongs means 2 hoses? The model / serial # is very clear and legible, although on my first post I had a typo on the model #
What do you think? Thanks!

That's a '63 model number.
It gets a little confusing with that prongs are what with the connectors, and how many there are. (as you're well aware :) ) What I ment was to see how many hoses are coming out of the back of the connector on the outboard. Pressure tank systems have two there - one runs to the carburetor and another running to the intake manifold. On regular, single line tank outboards, there's simply one hose running to a fuel pump.

EDIT:
Pressure tank fitting:
http://i5.ebayimg.com/03/i/05/ca/62/74_1_b.JPG

Single line tank fitting:
http://i9.ebayimg.com/03/i/05/b9/6a/47_2.JPG

OK, I finally figured that out.....just one line coming from the back of the connector on the outboard....thanks for sharing your knowledge and for helping me out, as you can tell, I am "green"! Thanks again!

No problem! You can get a tank and line for that anywhere, but if you want to get a really good bulb & line go you your local Johnny/Rude dealer. I've never seen one finer than the ones they sell. The quality of the bulb, fuel line, and connectors is nothing short of amazing. They're about $10 more than you would pay at Walmart, etc.

i agree with Paul on the fuel line, and use a metal tank, they are worth the money, and save a lot of headaches,(leaking connections, etc)

I just got an Evinrude 18. Have no clue what year it is. On the bracket it has two numbers. 18002E-E05607. Does anyone know what the model number is and year? Thanks..
