I just bought a 68 johnson 55 horse. The carbs has been gone through And all the wire replaced. The boat start and runs But has a miss I took it out yesterday and it went down the river good but when the miss would hit it felt like the boat prop hit something in otherwords it gave the boat a boost. In the front of the flywheel I noticed a spark. could it be a plug wire? Not sure if the spark even makes a difference. And the boat is always in drive wont go into reverse or idle. Any suggestions:confused:

you have an electric shift lower unit. does it feel like you hit a log, or something submerged?

I have a similar motor. Be sure you use Type-C for the lower end oil. It's a special oil for electro-shift motors. Changing your oil might resolve the shifting issue.
