I'm trying to find out what parts I'll when changing the impeller on my 1968 Johnson 100 HP.

I already have a new Impeller, and I'd like to keep the old housing(dealer wanted $130 for new housing.. I just want the motor running for 2 years)..

It's got an electric shift gearbox (which still works).

I'm thinking I might order the extension to exhaust housing gasket.. should I replace anything else while working on impeller? Maybe the impeller housing gasket?

The gearbox only gets about a tablespoon of water in it every year right now.

Also, should I know anything else while dropping the lower unit, besides making sure the shift cables are disconnected?

Parts diagram is here.. if anyone can recommend any other gaskets or things to replace:

Thanks

well, I've only needed to replace the impellar on my 1970 evinrude. Didn't need to replace the housing. Coil went bad on me. New spark plugs.

I suppose you will know once you get it started what needs to be replaced.

X2

If the housing needs to be replaced when you open it up, replace it. If it doesn't need replacing, don't.
